This weekly update is designed to help you stay informed and relate economic and company earnings to potentially value-add your CFD (Contract For Difference) trading via hedging (risk reducing). Last week’s market movement revolved around the spike in US 10 year bonds causing a broader scale market sell off, with the Tech heavy NASDAQ selling off -1.42% closing the week at 21,326 points. With the Atlanta Fed revising Q4 GDP from 3.1% to 2.6% and Tesla’s decline in Year to Year car deliveries across the major markets, set a bearish market sentiment for the week.

The data below showing the economic releases read as “Analyst’s estimate/ Consensus | Previous data”.
This week ahead, mainly focus on employment data coming out of the US, with ADP employment change on Wednesday, nonfarm payrolls and unemployment rate coming on Friday. With the US Federal Reserve signaling less rate cuts in 2025, market participants are paying close attention to the strength of the labor market as a gauge for potential Fed Pivot. Furthermore, China is releasing CPI and PPI data on Thursday, with market participants eager to see any form of bullish news before heading in to Chinese New Year later this month. China CPI is set to remain flat at 0.1%.
Earnings releases for this week focus on Constellation brands and Delta Air from the US. With constellation brands underperforming in the recent year, dropping -10.35%, with Net Profits taking a hit in the most recent quarter. While Delta Air has been beating analyst expectations with both increases in topline and bottom line numbers. Market participants are eager to get the forward guidance of Delta Air as a proxy for the broader aviation and airline stock. Furthermore on Tuesday 10:30am Singapore time, NVIDIA will be showcasing its new series of Graphic cards and product, market participants should take note as NVIDIA is one of the most speculated stocks and will set the sentiment for the AI, Chip maker and broader market sentiment.
