Singapore stocks ended lower on Monday (Aug 24). The benchmark lost 0.1 per cent or 8.50 points to finish at 5,680.46. Wilmar International led the gainers on Singapore’s blue-chip index, rising 1.3 per cent or S$0.05 to S$3.76. The worst performer was Seatrium, which fell 2.8 per cent or S$0.06 to S$2.09.
The S&P 500 and Nasdaq ended lower on Monday (Aug 24), pulled down by technology stocks, as investors weighed fresh US economic pressure against Iran and braced for a week that includes Nvidia earnings and a closely watched inflation report. In the US, the S&P fell 0.3% to 7,652.86, the Dow Jones gained 0.3% to 53,417.16, and the NASDAQ declined 0.8% to 25,980.19.

Nvidia is in talks to invest in AI startup Perplexity as part of an equity funding round that would value the company at more than US$30 billion, up more than 50 per cent from its 2025 financing. Nvidia has also announced its Groq 3 LPX chip is in full production, marking the commercialization of technology from the company’s largest-ever acquisition of USD 20 billion. Groq rack will be deployed alongside Vera Central processors and Rubin graphics processors at neocloud Nebius and will be online later this year.
