There is a saying that the people we surround ourselves with have the biggest influence on our behaviour, attitudes, and results. By the same token, avid traders know that a support system of mentors, teachers, or family and friends who are well versed in investing is advantageous as opposed to navigating the trading world alone.

To help both new and experienced investors on their wealth journey, PhillipCapital created a community function on its latest POEMS Mobile 3 App (P3) launched in early 2022. P3 Community enables its users to exchange trading ideas and learn from the wisdom and trading experience of the members, very much like how a village helps each other in times of need.

In this digital age, mobile phones have become ubiquitous and so much a part of our lives that many functions such as banking and trading can be executed on the move.

We’ve listened to what P3 users want for a better trading experience, solved their pain points, expanded and fully utilised our backend systems, and assigned dedicated teams to specifically cater to the needs of our tech-savvy clients.

P3 bundles the needs of today’s investors with connectivity and accessibility. More importantly, P3 aims to bridge the gap between the different generations of traders.

Now, let’s explore the benefits of joining the P3 community.

“Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much”. That is what Helen Keller; an American author and political activist said1. One of the best ways to learn and grow is by connecting with like-minded individuals and working towards a common goal.

We all want mega returns on our investments but have we done our due diligence? Are we certain that our investment strategies are sound or are we just blindly following our gut feel?

In decision making, there are so many things to consider and more often than not, our emotions come into play, leaving us in a state of confusion. So, whether you are new to trading or have some experience in the field, it is actually beneficial to hear from other traders before you make any decisions.

P3 Community allows users to share trading ideas, opinions on counters and other products, tools, and personal experiences, basically useful information that helps users to stay ahead of the game.

One of the downsides of social spaces is user anonymity2. We won’t know the identity of the person who is giving us tips or releasing “hot information” on social spaces. In the case of trading, this becomes an even greater concern. How certain are you that the veteran “professional trader” on the other end of the phone is not actually just someone who went through a free trading course online and is now a self-proclaimed trading genius? Worse yet, what if that person is a scammer trying to get you to buy over-inflated stocks? It seems like an impossible task to filter out all the bad actors out there, but P3 has taken steps to ensure that the platform is a safe and trustworthy environment.

Compared to the online community features of other brokerage firms, PhillipCapital ensures that users have access to the company’s resources that comprise licensed dealers, research analysts and business unit professionals who post daily content onto the platform and encourage discussions and queries from the public.

The P3 community feature embraces the different characteristics of all traders with the main goal of ensuring that legitimate and accurate content is shared for the benefit of the collective whole. It does not matter if you are an expressive individual with lots of opinions to share or if you are shy and prefer to observe from the side lines.

On P3, users can easily search for counters, topic discussions and other users via the global search bar. Need some suggestions to ride the upward trend of electric vehicles? Simply key in some keywords and a consolidated list of posts and news articles will appear.

Deeper market analysis

Deciding if you should trade a certain counter or other instruments can be a gruelling process. We tend to be biased in our decisions and might miss the underlying gaps in our strategies and approach. Having someone to oversee or comment on our trades can be an invaluable asset. When others provide some objectivity, we might then have a different perspective or it will solidify our personal assessment3.

If you are focused on the fundamentals of the market, obtain information from our research team or ask them about specific counters.

For traders who are focused on technical analysis for their trades, observe daily postings with live charts by our analysts and ask them about your preferred counter.

The P3 community also allows users to share their trade ideas with other community members, allowing you to receive honest and essential analyses of your strategies before you follow through with your investment decisions. Over time, you will build greater self-confidence to help you execute your next trade.

For traders who choose to share their trade ideas or enquires about certain counters and other instruments on P3, their queries and sharing are available for public viewing. This method of learning is encouraged as we will all benefit from a community of better informed investors.

Do also remember that you are able to use an alias for your username and maintain online anonymity.

On P3, the main draw of the Community tab is the public Community groups where PhillipCapital group admins comprising research analysts, business unit professionals and dealers will actively monitor their respective community groups, encourage engagement from all users, and moderate misleading or inappropriate content to ensure that it is a safe and trustworthy online space.

With that, let’s hear from the group admins and understand what each P3 Community group is about.

Stock trading relies on the circulation of news4. To succeed as a trader, one must depend on good and accurate data, constant monitoring of the trading environment, and have reliable communication with peers. Our P3 Community is designed with this in mind.

What sets P3 apart from other platforms is that we understand the value of user feedback. As the main drivers of the App, users know what benefits them and the tools or functions they need in order to have the best trading experience. We strongly encourage feedback and have teams constantly reviewing and working on user suggestions.

While relying on social trading communities can have a downside, the P3 Community aims to eliminate the concern of an untrustworthy online space and give confidence to those that want to embark on their trading journeys and thrive. Use the P3 Community resources for free. Download the POEMS Mobile 3 App now and enjoy the experience.

This material is provided by Phillip Capital Management (S) Ltd (“PCM”) for general information only and does not constitute a recommendation, an offer to sell, or a solicitation of any offer to invest in any of the exchange-traded fund (“ETF”) or the unit trust (“Products”) mentioned herein. It does not have any regard to your specific investment objectives, financial situation and any of your particular needs. You should read the Prospectus and the accompanying Product Highlights Sheet (“PHS”) for key features, key risks and other important information of the Products and obtain advice from a financial adviser (“FA“) pursuant to a separate engagement before making a commitment to invest in the Products. In the event that you choose not to obtain advice from a FA, you should assess whether the Products are suitable for you before proceeding to invest. A copy of the Prospectus and PHS are available from PCM, any of its Participating Dealers (“PDs“) for the ETF, or any of its authorised distributors for the unit trust managed by PCM.

An ETF is not like a typical unit trust as the units of the ETF (the “Units“) are to be listed and traded like any share on the Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited (“SGX-ST”). Listing on the SGX-ST does not guarantee a liquid market for the Units which may be traded at prices above or below its NAV or may be suspended or delisted. Investors may buy or sell the Units on SGX-ST when it is listed. Investors cannot create or redeem Units directly with PCM and have no rights to request PCM to redeem or purchase their Units. Creation and redemption of Units are through PDs if investors are clients of the PDs, who have no obligation to agree to create or redeem Units on behalf of any investor and may impose terms and conditions in connection with such creation or redemption orders. Please refer to the Prospectus of the ETF for more details.

Investments are subject to investment risks including the possible loss of the principal amount invested. The purchase of a unit in a fund is not the same as placing your money on deposit with a bank or deposit-taking company. There is no guarantee as to the amount of capital invested or return received. The value of the units and the income accruing to the units may fall or rise. Past performance is not necessarily indicative of the future or likely performance of the Products. There can be no assurance that investment objectives will be achieved.

Where applicable, fund(s) may invest in financial derivatives and/or participate in securities lending and repurchase transactions for the purpose of hedging and/or efficient portfolio management, subject to the relevant regulatory requirements. PCM reserves the discretion to determine if currency exposure should be hedged actively, passively or not at all, in the best interest of the Products.

The regular dividend distributions, out of either income and/or capital, are not guaranteed and subject to PCM’s discretion. Past payout yields and payments do not represent future payout yields and payments. Such dividend distributions will reduce the available capital for reinvestment and may result in an immediate decrease in the net asset value (“NAV”) of the Products. Please refer to <> for more information in relation to the dividend distributions.
